Bill Gates made a recent comment that whoever cracks the AI “assistant” puzzle will win huge, because you’ll never use a search engine or see an ad again. The bigger change from direct use of the internet to using it via an assistant will contain the payment shift, as people pay for an assistant that puts their goals first. The old “free” web will become as irrelevant as the over the air broadcast TV and radio that are still playing, but few are listening.
